EGCF has partnered with Accion International to sponsor a Spring pilot program in India to bring Accion’s highly successful business training model to the country’s small entrepreneurs.  A comprehensive  market survey was conducted in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka between June and August 2007.  Two locations each in rural, semi-urban and urban areas were chosen. The survey was administered on 324 people in Karnataka and 348 people in Andhra Pradesh. This in-depth market study revealed key findings which will assist Accion in modeling the appropriate training modules and program content most valuable to local small business owners.  Accion learned for instance that tailoring in Andhra Pradesh and retail trade in Karnataka are the most favored sectors in which aspiring entrepreneurs want to start a business. Seven training modules have been completed in 2007 and EGCF will sponsor a pilot launch of roughly 50 participants this Spring.  Please check back for updates on this project.  EGCF is  proud to partner with Accion on this effort.
